The FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship is a globally vital competition for young talent and has been creating Champions for a quarter of a century. The series shares its name with the FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship class within it, and the European Talent Cup and Moto2™ European Championship retain their denominations under the umbrella of the FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship. After previously racing within the Moto2™ Championship, the Stock class became a separate category last season: the Stock European Championship.
The calendar runs from May to November, with rounds taking place at Grand Prix venues or similar around Europe. All races take place on Sunday, with each round featuring one or two races for each class – with the exception of the Stock European Championship, which has one race per round.
For more than two decades, Dorna Sports has invested in opening the doors to motorcycle racing, creating the Road to MotoGP™. Comprising initiatives all over the world providing millions of young riders the opportunity to excel, the Road to MotoGP™ is unrivalled in motorsport – opening doors, increasing access and racing towards global equality.
JuniorGP™ is recognised as the final step on the Road to MotoGP™, and as such has played a key role in the recognition and development of riders who have gone on to rule the world. They include eight-time World Champion Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team), 2020 MotoGP™ Champion Joan Mir (Repsol Honda Team), 2021 MotoGP™ Champion Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™), and reigning MotoGP™ Champion Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team). Most riders in the Grand Prix paddock have passed through the series on their Road to MotoGP™, with the figure nearly at 100% after 25 years of competition.
Dorna Sports is the organiser of the MotoGP™ World Championship, the FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship, the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Championship and the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup, as well as co-organiser of the R&G British Talent Cup and Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.
